Capítulo 1341: Chapter 1341 Extra Story of Du Fu 67

Originally thought that entering the Fu Family’s estate would ensure seeing Fu Miaoxue, but Du Lai had worked as a gardener for seven or eight days without even catching a glimpse of Fu Miaoxue.

It felt a bit like ancient concubines roaming the imperial garden. Whenever Fu Miaoxue fancied a stroll, everyone in the area would be cleared out, leaving only the bodyguards.

The monkeys, however, were easier to encounter. Fu Miaoxue let the monkeys roam freely around the estate, as they would always head to the dining room at mealtime to find her. Around their necks was a flashy collar, similar to the one Du Lai used to wear, equipped with a GPS tracker.

Several days passed this way, and not only was Du Lai getting anxious, but even the dishwashers were starting to fret. They had come here to locate Fu Lisheng’s treasure vault, yet nearly half a month had gone by without any progress.

Finally, one day, an opportunity arose.

For some strange reason, Fu Miaoxue had the household bodyguards each hold a chicken in the garden for her to practice her aim. The bodyguards on the estate had specific duties, so they couldn’t all be summoned for her whims. Thus, the butler called over 20 bodyguards and another 20 servants, among whom was Du Lai.

Du Lai was holding a yellow-brown mottled hen, its neck tucked in as it lay in his arms, occasionally twitching its claws in an attempt to escape.

Today, he wasn’t wearing a mask, but he had fake mustaches and eyebrows to avoid being recognized by the bodyguards and the butler. After all, they were the ones who had taken him off the deserted island before.

At the same time, he was a bit curious — would Fu Miaoxue recognize him?

She should be able to, right? After spending so much time together, a change in facial hair shouldn’t make him unrecognizable.

He silently glanced forward, only seeing a dense shadow of trees. Forty people lined up, moving forward like a long queue at a grocery store whenever a stone landed with a thud.

She probably hadn’t practiced much since returning home, so her skills had dulled considerably. Du Lai hadn’t heard a single cluck from the chickens, though a few chicken holders were hit, letting out pained exclamations before being shushed by Fu Miaoxue’s scolding.

Du Lai internally mocked: This is intentional. If she just wanted to hit the chickens, she could have tied them to the ground. Why make people hold them?

A sudden sharp cluck filled the air!

“Cluck cluck cluck cluck—”

Du Lai was momentarily stunned, then heard Fu Miaoxue’s hearty laughter burst out. It was a familiar sound, bringing memories of the days on the island. Even now, separated by trees and hedges, he could imagine her smug, mischievous expression.

He wondered how she would react upon seeing him? Hopefully, he wouldn’t be exposed…

The line continued to move forward, turning a corner. In the distance, he saw Fu Miaoxue.

Today she wore a dashing riding outfit — a white shirt, black vest, with an exquisite bow tie accentuating her small, lively, and adorable face.

Absence indeed makes the heart grow fonder. Despite their intimate moments on the island, he felt nothing back then. Now, seeing her anew, she seemed downright charming.

Five security guards or servants stood in a row, a few meters apart. Fu Miaoxue rode a white horse back and forth, her gaze wandering over the chickens they held, looking somewhat serious rather than mischievous.

Yet whenever she struck, it was at the people rather than the chickens. The people could endure the pain, but the chickens struggled frantically, with one breaking free and flapping its wings furiously. Annoyed, Fu Miaoxue threw the agate bead in her hand at the poor security guard holding the chicken!

“Useless thing! Can’t even hold onto a chicken!” she bellowed.

Du Lai glanced at the agate bead that rolled over, round and shiny.

This wasteful woman…

“You, come over here!” Fu Miaoxue pointed at Du Lai, her small face stern, “Hold the chicken firmly, if it moves, I’ll chop off your foot!”

Du Lai: “…”

Damn it, wouldn’t it be easier to just chop off the chicken’s feet?
