Chapter 2749: Chapter 2749: Replacement
Julius Reed wasn’t in a hurry.
Because time here compared to outside was incredibly slow.
One could even say that spending a year and a half here might not amount to even a day outside.
This is why Nelson could learn that set of complex and stunning swordsmanship in such a short time, merely in the time it takes to have a nap.
It’s all because of this time difference.
Julius Reed had a bold idea.
If he learned some new methods here, perhaps he could also shorten the learning time?
“Newcomer!”
Before he could think more, someone shouted loudly, “Are you the newcomer 9527?”
“That’s me.”
Julius Reed nodded.
It was a very filthy and disordered room.
Scattered files were everywhere.
“Let me introduce, this is our new colleague, 9527.”
A chubby man pointed at Julius Reed and introduced.
Suddenly, a dozen or so people appeared like phantoms in the room.
But these people’s faces showed no sign of welcome—instead, they were filled with hatred!
“1150, Step forward!”
The chubby man shouted loudly.
“Remember, my today is your tomorrow!”
A gaunt man with anger and malice in his eyes stepped out.
“What does this mean?” Julius Reed asked curiously.
Why was he being targeted from the very beginning?
“1150, You can leave now.” The chubby man pointed to a seat and waved; the number ‘1150’ there instantly changed to ‘9527’.
The gaunt man with the number 1150 was then directly escorted away.
“Alright, get to work!”
As the chubby man finished speaking, everyone returned to their positions.
Julius Reed was led to his assigned spot.
“May I ask, wasn’t there someone here originally, just now…”
“We don’t keep useless people here.”
The chubby man finished speaking and placed a pile of files written with Spiritual Power in front of Julius Reed: “Sort these files within half an hour. If you don’t, you’ll face the same end as 1150!”
After speaking, he pointed at a clock above everyone’s heads: “Time starts now.”
With that, he swiftly left.
“What does this mean?” Julius Reed scanned the room and finally found someone that seemed somewhat friendly.
“It’s all about survival of the fittest here. When a newcomer arrives, it means the previous person will be sent to do hard labor. Unless you’re irreplaceable, it’s only a matter of time.”
The somewhat friendly person looked around to make sure no one was listening, and whispered: “This entrance test is the hardest. I feel like someone has it out for you; otherwise, why would they assign you such a task? Hurry up, even though it’s impossible to finish, you shouldn’t give up.”
“So difficult? Could it be I’m being targeted?” Julius Reed wondered.
He hadn’t done anything to warrant it.
How is he being targeted right after walking through the door?
Seeing no one else willing to talk to him, he sat down and began to look through.
The files in front of him, written with Spiritual Power, were just a bunch of lists.
But as simplistic as it sounds, there were tens of thousands of them.
By normal workloads, it was virtually impossible to complete.
Julius Reed suddenly understood why the somewhat friendly person had said what he did.
Clearly, there was a reason.
But what had he done to cause this?
All the surrounding eyes were filled with sympathy.
Julius Reed shook his head, sat in his chair, and began humming a tune.
“What are you doing?”
The chubby man suddenly appeared.
Startling Julius Reed.
It seemed that here, they could teleport instantly.
But in other places, due to various issues, everyone could only walk around like in the Mortal World.
“The task you gave me was for half an hour.” Julius Reed pointed to the clock above.
“It’s still early now, I like to rest a bit when there’s time.”
“Then look again?” The chubby man snorted coldly, pointing at the clock.
Where there should have been over twenty minutes left, it now showed only five minutes remaining!
This was obvious foul play!
“I know what you want to say, but I’m in charge here, if you don’t want to work just get out!”
The chubby man yelled viciously!
“Fine.” Julius Reed smiled, stood up, and grabbed with both hands.
Whoosh!
The files in front of him all floated into the air.
Julius Reed’s hands waved continuously, and those files appeared to be blown by the wind, all descending in order onto the desk.
“Finished?” The chubby man was utterly astonished.
Not just him, everyone sitting with Julius Reed was astonished as well.
They found it a bit incomprehensible.
Processing these files in such a short time was impossible.
Even if it was possible, it shouldn’t be this simple and effortless.
“Are you messing with me?” The chubby man sneered coldly, pointing at the items on the desk: “Get ready to go do that dirty and tiring work!”
After speaking, he drew a talisman in front of him.
Immediately, someone came over.
Unexpectedly, it was led by Secretary Martin.
“What a coincidence.”
Julius Reed greeted him.
“I’d rather it not be; this means you’re in trouble.”
Secretary Martin’s eyes showed pity.
Such a promising rookie.
“I’ve sorted all these files.” Julius Reed pointed at the desk’s files: “He only gave me one minute! After I finished, he found fault, isn’t this bullying the honest?”
“Haha, kid, you’re still talking tough at the end of your rope. You say these are sorted?”
The chubby man pointed at files that appeared neat.
“Impossible! Even for me, it takes about half an hour. You did it in just one minute…”
Speaking this, he realized he misspoke.
“One minute… isn’t that a bit harsh?”
Secretary Martin seemed displeased but still picked up the files.
“He’s just not capable!”
The chubby man continued to argue, trying to change the topic.
“No way…” Someone behind Secretary Martin looked, incredulous: “They’re all sorted? In just one minute?”
“Just one minute!”
Julius Reed held up one finger.
“A talent!” The person nodded, handing things to Secretary Martin.
Secretary Martin glanced through them quickly, astonished: “It really is! You, kid, you’re exceptional!”
This task was incredibly complex, full of lists of deceased people.
They needed to be sorted by time of death and order of arrival here, categorized and arranged.
Because of its intricacy and susceptibility to errors, the demands on these people were exceptionally high.
“How is that possible! Let me see!”
The chubby man was about to look when Julius Reed swiftly slapped him!
Bang!
The chubby man floated lightly, nearly having his soul shattered by Julius Reed’s slap.
This time, every pair of eyes in the room was on him.
“What’re you looking at? Never seen someone get hit?” Julius Reed looked at the dumbfounded chubby man and threw another punch!
