Chapter 2744: Chapter 2744: Good Brother
“Your name is Julius Reed?”
Saul King lay sprawled in the mud, his eyes full of unwillingness.
“I’m Julius Reed, yeah.” Julius Reed thought for a moment. Since this man had been sent by Silvio Reed, pretending to be Silvio himself was no longer realistic.
“Just kill me.”
Saul King let out a cold laugh and shut his eyes tight.
Those golden soldiers were already standing at his side, weapons poised, ready to smash down on Saul King at any moment.
Sacrificing half his Telekinesis in exchange for that burst from the Nine Provinces Authority Sword had caused Saul King’s cultivation to plunge; he was already on the verge of falling below the Emperor Realm.
And Julius Reed, on the other hand, didn’t seem to show the slightest sign of injury.
As one declined and the other rose, Saul King was no fool; he understood he no longer had any chance of winning.
Rather than struggle on in his death throes, it was better to die with some dignity.
“Wait!”
At Julius Reed’s shout, all those little golden men froze in place.
“What are you trying to do?”
Saul King said in disgust, “You’re a master, I’m an Emperor Realm master as well! A man can be killed, but not humiliated. If you intend to torture me, that’s going too far.”
Thinking that he couldn’t even die in a dignified way, a violent surge of power erupted from Saul King’s body!
He was about to self-detonate.
Self-detonation was excruciatingly painful!
Very few people had the courage to do it.
“I just think that you don’t actually want to die.”
Julius Reed spoke with a faint smile.
“No shit, who wants to die?” Saul King pointed at him. “Don’t push me too far!”
“Since you don’t want to die, I’ve made a decision.”
Julius Reed slowly walked to a spot five meters in front of Saul King. “I’m not going to kill you.”
“Heh.”
Saul King snorted coldly. “If you want to kill, then kill. What’s with all the nonsense? Remember this: you can kill me, but you don’t have it in you to humiliate me!”
“The old gentleman’s got quite a temper.” Hands clasped behind his back, Julius Reed gave a light shout, “Disperse!”
Crash!
The golden soldiers all vanished.
They turned into tiny droplets of rain that fell back into the earth.
This time, it was Saul King’s turn to be at a loss.
What did this mean?
What was he doing?
How could this be happening?
Those golden soldiers had been the very reason Saul King had felt so hopeless.
If not for those soldiers, he could have kept fighting Julius Reed.
He might lose in a clash of spells, but he could still run.
Could it be that this kid in front of him really didn’t plan to kill him?
“I said I’d let you go. A gentleman’s word is his bond. You’ve seen it yourself—I’ve got a crown on me too.”
Julius Reed raised his hand, and a crown instantly appeared above his head.
“Th-this… what’s going on?!”
Saul King had been shocked before as well—shouldn’t that thing be on Silvio Reed?
How did Julius Reed also have one?
It was only because he had lost a life-and-death battle that he hadn’t bothered to think it through.
Now that he calmed down and thought about it, the implications were huge, downright terrifying.
“Let me tell you, it’s simple—Silvio Reed is playing all of us.”
Julius Reed said helplessly, “He sent your son to kill me, using you to kill with another man’s knife! First he borrowed my knife to kill your son, then he planned to use your knife to kill me.”
“You know what he said? He said he didn’t want to be king, so he temporarily gave this crown to me.”
Julius Reed shook his head. “Only later did I realize this thing draws calamity, it invites death! Look at us now—you and I are both victims. Whether I die or you die, Silvio Reed is the fisherman reaping all the benefits.”
“Despicable!”
Saul King said through gritted teeth, “As if I don’t know I was being used! I just didn’t expect you were being used as well. In a few more days, this crown will bring you disaster and get you killed!”
He pointed at the crown. “That thing is not so easy to wear. No wonder you’re this strong—turns out Silvio Reed gave the crown to you.”
“Yeah, it’s not like I didn’t know. But Silvio Reed is my brother. To die for him, I had no complaints—what I never imagined was that he would set up a chain of schemes just to put me to death!”
Julius Reed closed his eyes and let out a helpless sigh.
His face was full of sorrow.
“He never saw you as a brother! That damned bastard—like I wouldn’t know what he’s like? But I scoured everywhere and couldn’t find him, and instead I found you.”
Speaking of this, Saul King was full of emotion.
“That’s why, once I realized this, I decided not to kill you. You’re pitiful too. You’ve lost your son; I can’t bear it.”
Julius Reed waved his hand. “Go.”
“You really won’t kill me?” Saul King asked again.
“We’re both people fallen on hard times. If I’d known sooner, I would never have killed your son.”
Julius Reed turned around and wiped at his eyes with his hand.
“Kid, I didn’t expect you to be a man of feeling too! My son was killed by you, but you’re a victim as well. When all’s said and done, my son still died at Silvio Reed’s hands.”
Saul King cupped his fists. “You and I share the same enemy: Silvio Reed. I’ll remember the favor you showed me today. Once I’ve killed Silvio Reed, I’ll give you an explanation.”
“Silvio Reed is my brother. Even though I know where he’s hiding, I…”
Julius Reed hadn’t finished speaking when he was immediately cut off. “You know?”
“I do.”
Julius Reed nodded. “An old man’s grief at losing his son—there’s nothing I can say to comfort you, because any words would be hollow. But if I betray Silvio Reed just because he betrayed me, then what’s the difference between us?”
“Hurry up and say it!”
Thinking of how he was no match for Julius Reed at all, Saul King’s tone softened drastically. “Consider it that I’m begging you!”
“Fine. Your son did die by my hand; think of this as my atonement.”
In pain, Julius Reed stretched out his hand and called, “Rian Harris!”
“Here!”
A figure appeared.
“Emperor Realm!”
Saul King narrowed his eyes.
An Emperor Realm expert, actually serving as a retainer?
How was that possible!
But after all the impossible things he’d seen today, he no longer found it so unbelievable.
“Find out where Silvio Reed is.”
After Julius Reed spoke, he pointed his hand forward.
The Eye of God opened.
Rian Harris understood at once, using his Spiritual Power to draw a map on the courtyard ground.
Julius Reed lightly tapped on it.
The Eye of God could see specifics.
Combined with Julius Reed’s knowledge of this continent, he could more or less piece things together.
“Right here. Brother Silvio Reed, I’m sorry.”
With that, Julius Reed took great strides back into the room.
“Julius Reed, this old man Saul King… thanks you!”
Saul King reached out and grabbed; the map drawn with Spiritual Power flew into his hand and vanished together with him.
After Saul King left, Rian Harris asked in confusion, “Why didn’t you kill him?”
“What good would killing him do?”
Julius Reed shot back.
“One less powerful enemy,” Rian Harris replied.
“But if I don’t kill him, I gain a powerful ally, and another man to help deal with Silvio Reed. Isn’t that better?”
Julius Reed smiled. “Alive, he’s far more useful to me than dead. Didn’t you hear him call me brother?”
“That…” Rian Harris was at a loss for words.
